On one morn in the month of May
Down to the ferry we went one day
The wind was blowing the devil of a gale so instead we went out on the ale
*
Out on the Mersey Oh how the cold wind blew
I used me jersey to mop up the pools of spew.
*
When we got home we were tired and beat
so we looked in the cupboard for something to eat
there were taters carrots and onions too
so we had the stuff for an Irish stew
*
Oh flour and suet and a handfull of parsley too
I made a dumpling ---- to chuck in the Irish stew
*
We lobbed it in the pot and it looked complete
but soon we realised that we had no meat
I diddnt have a lot to spend
so I bought me a pound of the best scragg end
*
Oh flour and suet and a handfull of parsley too
I chucked my dumpling ---- into the Irish stew
*
It boiled for an hour and we found a ladle
then we all sat down at the kitchen table
I scooped it and poked it and stirred it around
but the big fat dumpling could not be found
*
Oh flour and suet and a handfull of parsley too
My lovely dumpling ------ lost in the Irish stew
*
It sat there proud all suet and dough
when it was struck by a carrot from down below
It was holed below the gravy line
and down it went for the very last time.
*
Oh flour and suet a handfull of parsley too
My lovely dumpling ------
Lost in the Irish stew !!!!!
